Syrian Druze expected to visit a group of about 100 large figures from the sect, the Golan Heights occupied by Israel on Friday, in another reference indicating Israel’s support for this minority.
It is expected that the group will meet Sheikh Mowaffaq Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze in Israel, in addition to other members of the sect, and to visit a religious position.
There has been no confirmation from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the visit.
Druze is an Arab minority that lives in Syria, Israel, the Palestinian territories and Lebanon.
In Israel, many Druze are served in the army and the police, including during the Gaza war, and some of them assumed high positions.
On Friday, the visit of Israel has caused Israel to support the Druze since the ceasefire in Lebanon and the sudden overthrow of former Syrian President Bashar al -Assad late last year.
Israel has repeatedly called for the protection of the rights of Syrian minorities, including the Druze.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz confirmed this week that the Druze will be allowed from the other side of the separation line to enter the Golan Heights to work, and that Israel will be ready to defend them, after days of violence in Syria.
Israeli ministers expressed deep doubts about the new Syrian government of President Ahmed Al -Shara, describing his movement, the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al -Sham, as a jihadist group. The group was affiliated with al -Qaeda before it cut off its connection with it.
