The Sudanese army managed to extend its control over strategic locations in the city of El Fasher, north of Darfur, after violent battles with the Rapid Support Forces.
The Sudanese military media announced today (Wednesday) that the armed forces, with the support of the movements of the armed struggle and the joint forces, were able to thwart the rapid support plans and weaken their combat ability in the region.
A statement by the armed forces stated that the rapid support elements launched an intense attack on Al -Fasher, using more than 50 passers -by accompanied by artillery shelling that lasted for more than 6 hours, but that the army forces managed to destroy 7 monuments before reaching their targets, as well as destroying two fighting vehicles and a truck carrying elements of rapid support.
According to the statement, the Rapid Support Forces tried to exploit the artillery shelling to cover the withdrawal of some of its elements from El -Fasher, but the vigilance of the army and the joint forces prevented this, as the land defenses managed to thwart any attempts to infiltrate through the northwestern axis of the city.
The army affirmed that the city of El Fasher is still under the control of the armed forces, and that the situation in it is safe and stable, stressing the continuation of military operations until the entire area of the Rapid Support Forces is cleared. He renewed his intention to continue victories and restore security and stability in the entire country.
In addition to the military operations, the Committee for the Support of Military Families in the Sixth Division, in cooperation with the Zakat Bureau in the state of North Darfur, implemented the “Sayeer of the fasting person” initiative, as food aid was distributed to 950 families of the families of the military, in a move aimed at alleviating the suffering of the affected families from the conflict.
These developments coincide with a constant escalation between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in the Darfur region, as the latter seeks to expand its influence in the region, while the army is trying to regain control of strategic cities.
Field reports stated that the battles in El -Fasher may be a turning point in the course of the war that has been going on since April 2023, as the city represents a decisive gateway to control Darfur.
