A man who tried to kill his ex-partner with a screwdriver arrested
Civil police agents arrested this Friday (29) a man suspected of trying to kill his ex-partner with a screwdriver, in the Rocha Miranda neighborhood, northern Rio. He was located by agents from the Madureira police station hours after the attack.
According to police, the suspect broke into the victim’s home, broke down the door and got into a physical fight with his father, who tried to stop him. He then went to his ex-partner’s room and injured her in the neck with the tool. The escape occurred after the relatives’ cries for help woke up other people in the house.
At the scene, the man left a backpack containing flammable liquids, homemade bombs, fireworks and knives, indicating premeditation.

The victim went to the police station to record the incident and the agents began searches that culminated in the arrest of the suspect. He was accused of attempted femicide and stalking. The man was already facing legal charges for bodily harm and threats.
The case continues to be investigated, while the victim receives police and legal support.
