The fighter Minatouro offered a boxing lesson on the beach of Ipanema, southern area of Rio de Janeirofor 60 children from the communities of Rocinha, Vidigal, Pavão, Pavãozinho and Cantagalo. The event is part of Conexão Praia, which aims to offer free sports and cultural activities to the population and has the support of state government.
This Friday (11/15) was full of energy and disposition on Ipanema beach, in the South Zone of Rio. With a program full of sporting and cultural activities, the weekend began with a super boxing class with the famous MMA fighter, Minotouro. and continued with a rugby demonstration and a dance lesson with dancer Bruno Paiva.
The athlete, through the Irmãos Nogueira Institute, chartered two buses from the community of Jacarezinho to Ipanema beach so that young people from needy communities could enjoy the beginning of the long vacation. Minotouro spoke about the energy of practicing his passion in front of such a varied audience and the importance of sport.
“I am sure that sport changes a child’s mentality, it is not just the physical aspect. When you strengthen your body, you strengthen your mind. So, you build trust. In this way, more respectful, honest and disciplined children are formed. “These are values and behaviors that may not make a champion, but they certainly make a better citizen,” said the athlete.

In addition to the free boxing class, the event also featured a dance class with Bruno Paiva, a dancer who has performed alongside singers such as Anitta, Iza and Ivete Sangalo. With an inspiring career and more than 15 countries under his belt, he brought to the public a class inspired by African rhythms and hip-hop.
“I can say that music saved me. It is very gratifying and important to transmit what I learned here and continue spreading it to young people and children. I always had fun and now I am providing a service, adding one more step, one more brick to build this wonderful Rio de Janeiro,” said Bruno.
For the most curious, the event presented rugby to the most curious, in collaboration between the NGO UMrio and the Consulate of the United Kingdom. Participants received a demonstration of the sport, followed by classes for those registered. The sport is one of the most popular in England.
