He held the position of Assistant President of Western Cape University between 1991 and 1994, and was a resident researcher at Georgetown University in a later period.
Thought and ideological orientation

Political experience
After a messenger from Cape Town graduated from the early eighties of the twentieth century, he was involved in the anti -racist political activity and joined the United Democratic Front, and held the position of its regional secretary in Western Cape Province for a period of three years, and also joined the “Nidaa Islam” organization and was associated with it through documentary ties with the United Democratic Front.
In 1985 he was a messenger at the forefront of anti -apartheid activities, but his political activity led to his arrest for a period of three months, then he was placed in house arrest. In 1987, he was arrested again and was imprisoned for 13 months. During his arrest, Nelson Mandela met for the first time.
After the end of the apartheid period in South Africa in the 1990s, a messenger of government, including health, social and financial and economic development departments.
In 1984, he took the position of National Secretary of the “Nidaa Islam” organization and remained in this position until 1994. He also held the position of Secretary of the Regional Treasury of the African National Congress Party between 1994 and 1998, and he was also a member of the Executive Council of the Western Cape Province.

He also held the position of Chairman of the Western Provence Board of Professional Reging, and a member of the Western Cape University Council.
Ambassador to the United States
South African President Jacob Zuma Ibrahim Rasoul appointed Ambassador to South Africa to the United States between 2010 and 2015.
After a while he was appointed in the same position again, but in March 2025, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the expulsion of Ambassador Rasul, accusing him of “hating the United States and its president” Donald Trump.
Rubio added in a post on the X platform that Ibrahim Rasoul “is no longer welcome” in America, describing him as “an ethnic political sedition.”
Prizes and medals
A messenger received a number of prizes and medals in appreciation of his contributions in the fields of leadership and society.
The Kaiser Foundation awarded him the Nelson Mandela Award for Health and Human Rights in 1998.
In 2005, the Financial Times awarded him the “Personality of the Year’s Personality Award for Foreign Investment in Africa”.
He also received the Verical and Recepted Public Command Award in 2008 from the World Conference on the improvement of good Muslims, in addition to the Prize for Commitment and Leadership in Crime Control from the “Business Against Crime” Foundation.
